Journalistic innovation: How new formats of digital journalism are perceived in the academic literature

This article carries out a systematic review of the literature analysing following new journalistic formats: structured journalism, immersive 360° video reports, virtual reality and augmented applied to newsgames docugames. To do so, scientific production examining these formats is first analysed determine academic impact studies, while identifying their characteristics tracking evolution over time. Second, leading researchers in this field are identified interviewed ascertain opinion about future journalism changing trends formats. The results show that number publications innovation peaked 2019, above all three journals – Digital Journalism, Journalism Practice Profesional de la Información lead way discipline. 23 academics reported impacts primarily on four aspects journalism: information content; audience; methods resources news media companies.
